Hindu Festivals, Vrat & Pujas 2024 | Hindu Calendar 2024

Looking for authentic online puja in the US with traditional rituals and Indian Pandits? Here’s our all-encompassing guide.

The Hindu calendar is an all-encompassing guide to festivals, fasts, and events that unfold throughout the year. In 2024, it predominantly follows the Lunisolar system, where the timing of celebrations is intricately linked to the positions of the Sun and the Moon. The scheduling of Hindu festivals varies based on geographical locations, leading to differences from one region to another.

Commonly known as the Hindu Vrat or Tyohar calendar, it encompasses festivals, Vrats, and significant events called Parv. Many of these involve observing fasts to pay homage to deities, while others hold mythological significance.

It's important to note that the Hindu calendar doesn't have fixed dates for its festivals and occasions. In 2024, the timing is connected to the Full Moon, and some festivals depend on Moon phases, including Diwali, Holi, Maha Shivaratri, and others.

The Hindu calendar begins with the Saka Era, aligning with the vernal equinox. Standard years have 365 days, while leap years have 366 days. An intercalary day is added at the end of the month Chaitra. To identify leap years, adding 78 to the Saka year and checking if the sum evenly divided by 4 designates the year as a leap year.

Want to perform auspicious Puja as per the Hindu calendar in the traditional way? Read along as we guide you through our online puja offerings and how you can dive into spirituality assisted by Indian Shastris, Pandits, and Brahmins.

The Hindu calendar, rooted in the Vedas and shaped by ancient scholars, holds a significant place in Indian culture. Combining lunar and solar cycles, it's known as a lunisolar calendar, reflecting diverse perspectives within India.

Various versions exist, but the one based on Hindu months and the lunisolar system is widely followed. Yet, its importance goes beyond tracking festivals; it's a cultural cornerstone.

In 2024, the Hindu calendar starts a bit later than the financial year, around 13 to 15 days after the academic year. It kicks off in the solar month corresponding to the zodiac sign Aries or Mesha. Rare adjustments may occur in 2024, adding a unique touch to this ancient timekeeping tradition.

Book your online Puja and partake in authentic Indian Puja rituals right from the US.
